The Awana Doctrinal Statement (as well as the Doctrinal Statement of Fellowship Community Church) is available upon request.

Why Awana?
The goal of Awana is “to reach boys and girls with the gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him.” Thus, the purpose of Awana is twofold:

  1. Evangelism—to draw boys and girls from the community into the club ministry where they may hear the gospel and accept Christ as Savior.
  2. Training—to prepare clubbers to help fulfill the Great Commission through outreach to the lost, service to the local church and community and development of leadership qualities.

Awana strongly emphasizes memorizing and understanding Scripture. Psalm 119:11 says, Thy [God’s] Word [the Bible] have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against Thee. Through Bible memorization and other Bible-based achievements, clubbers learn the Word of God, which (if they are saved) helps develop their relationship with Jesus Christ. The example of godly leaders teaches clubbers how Christianity works on a practical level. Leader direction, coupled with the Awana materials, helps clubbers grow in Christ and develops their gifts for further service to the Lord. Clubbers often discover later in life that verses they learned in Awana are valuable in helping them live Christ-honoring lives.

Special Note to Parents
Parents/Guardians are a vital part of a child's success in Awana. We encourage all parents/guardians to spend time w/your child weekly to learn and memorize the sections of their handbook. The books also include a variety of other activities that will allow you to spend special time with your child. We also invite parents/guardians to spend an evening with your child at Awana anytime so that you might see their experience.

Awana Programs

Cubbies (Preschool)
Our preschool program meets these needs through fun – and lots of it! Awana is fun with a purpose – to reach and train kids for Jesus Christ. Games, puppets, crafts, awards and other activities transform our preschool program into a lively weekly experience where fun and learning go hand in hand.

Friendly characters and leaders Cubbie Bear, Luv E. Lamb, Ern. E. Elephant, Zip E. Zebra and Gigi Giraffe take preschoolers on a thrilling journey through God’s Word. Caring, committed volunteer leaders from Fellowship Community Church nurture your children spiritually as Christian role models and teachers.

Bible-centered handbooks and club activities help your children begin to build a solid understanding of the basics of Christianity at an early age. Cubbies is unique because it supports parents as the primary source of spiritual nurturing. By working directly with their child on the weekly handbook lessons, parents become active participants in their child’s spiritual development. Your kids will reap immediate benefits from their involvement in this exciting program. Just look at what they will learn after only two years:

  • Approximately 55 memory verses – and up to 120 additional verses if they complete our extra-credit curriculum
  • Key basic truths about God, Jesus Christ, salvation and the Bible

Sparks (Kindergarten through 2nd Grade)
The aim of the Sparks curriculum is to take youngsters a step deeper into God’s Word while giving unsaved boys and girls regular opportunities to hear the gospel and come to faith in Jesus Christ. After being immersed in solid foundational teaching at the preschool level, boys and girls frequently come to an understanding of their need to trust Christ as their personal Savior while in Sparks.

Sparks club meetings combine learning with fun to create an atmosphere of irresistible excitement for churched and unchurched kids alike. Club meetings are divided into three segments:

  • Bible teaching, worship, award presentations and the gospel message
  • Small group interaction and completion of Bible-based lessons
  • Age-appropriate games on the Awana game circle

Along the way, Sparky, the friendly firefly, encourages boys and girls to learn verses and complete assignments throughout the three handbooks.

T & T: Truth & Training (3rd through 6th Grade)
We want our Awana clubbers to know the truth of God's Word, and we want to train them to serve Him in their everyday lives.

T & T club meetings combine learning with fun to create an atmosphere of irresistible excitement for churched and unchurched kids alike. Club meetings are divided into three segments:

  • Bible teaching, worship, award presentations and the gospel message
  • Small group interaction and completion of Bible-based lessons
  • Age-appropriate games on the Awana game circle
